Throwing the Perfect Thanksgiving Dinner

Fall is the beginning of the holiday season; and Thanksgiving is one of the most cherished holidays that we celebrate. Everyone wants to put together a gorgeous dinner on this day, but there is a lot of work involved. However, you do not have to run yourself ragged to throw the perfect Thanksgiving dinner for your loved ones.

Planning is key. You must make sure that you take time to work out the details well in advance of the actual dinner. You will want to plan out the menu that you are planning to serve. From there you will need to craft your shopping list so that you can head to the grocery about three days before Thanksgiving. You will want to make sure to hit the store about then so that you can avoid the last minute holiday crowds. Additionally, you will want to plan out your cooking process for Thanksgiving day. You should pace yourself during this long day in the kitchen so that you are not exhausted by the time you serve dinner.

In addition to shopping ahead of time, you can also try to make some of the food ahead of time. Try to prepare as much as you can a day or two ahead of the holiday. This may include chopping vegetables, meats and cheeses; anything that you can do beforehand will really help you to make sure that Thanksgiving Day goes smoothly.

You should double check all of your kitchen supplies to be sure that you have everything on hand that you need. Nothing is worse than discovering in the midst of cooking that you do not have some crucial item. For instance, you would want to get your turkey all ready for the oven only to realize that you have nothing to cook it in. You will want to double check your dinnerware, glassware and flatware. Be sure that you have enough for each of your guests so that no one is left out at the dinner table. While doing this, keep a "to do" list on hand of what you need to get replaced before Thanksgiving. This list will help you to stay organized and avoid forgetting anything important.

You must also spend a little time getting your home decorated for the holiday. As the host or hostess, it is you who will set the stage for an atmosphere of festivity and fun. You do not have to break the bank, but adding a few simple touches can help to create the right atmosphere. By selecting some candles in holiday colors like gold, green and orange you can add some elegance and sparkle. Additionally, you might want to create a simple fall centerpiece like a lovely basket filled with pine cones and fragrant cinnamon sticks. Be creative and have fun with your Thanksgiving decor.

The most important thing about throwing the perfect Thanksgiving dinner is to remember that it is about giving thanks. If you put together your event with love and surround yourself with people important to you then you are sure to have a holiday you and your guests will remember for years to come.
